If you are under the age of 35 and you and your partner have been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for a year or more – or if you are over the age of 35 and have not been able to conceive after trying for six months, it’s time to seek medical treatment for infertility from our female gynecologist, Dr. Rania Ibrahim.
The first step in diagnosing infertility is to perform an infertility evaluation. The main purpose of the evaluation is to perform the tests that will provide information regarding the cause of infertility and ultimately lead to the development of a comprehensive treatment plan.
The results of the evaluation lead your OB-GYN to determine the cause of infertility, which is typically related to age, ovulatory disorder, male factor or tubular factor.
A typical fertility evaluation includes physical exams and a discussion regarding the medical/sexual histories of both partners. Men submit to a semen analysis to evaluate sperm count and movement. For women, New Beginning’s OB-GYN, Dr. Rania Ibrahim, first determines if her patient is ovulating.
If a patient is ovulating, your OB-GYN will then perform a standard test to x-ray the fallopian tubes and uterus. This test involves inserting a dye solution into the uterine cavity and then taking multiple X-rays.
If the fallopian tubes remain open, the dye will flow through the tubes and appear in the abdominal cavity. If the tubes are blocked, the dye will be held in the uterus or fallopian tubes, depending on the location of the blockage.
There are other tests – such as ultrasounds used to examine female reproductive structures – that are designed to provide your OB-GYN with more information.
If you are have trouble conceiving and need a caring and experienced female gynecologist then you rely on the professional and caring staff at New Beginnings OB-GYN under the direction of Dr. Rania Ibrahim.
